SUBJECT OF ACTIVITY of The Great Olive Trees Association/Ulu Zeytin Agaclari Dernegi





“The Great Olive Trees Association/ulu zeytin agaclari dernegi” was established in Muğla / Turkey with the gathering of members who devoted themselves to the olive tree in order to raise awareness about making the monumental olive trees, which are our natural cultural heritage, visible, protecting and transferring them to future generations.

Emphasizing the importance of olive trees, identifying monumental olive trees and monumental olive workshops, creating an inventory of natural cultural heritage related to them, protecting them and transferring them to future generations, promoting olive-based products on national and international platforms, finding solutions to the needs and problems of producers, increasing the quality of life of the society and was established to contribute to social development.

To raise awareness about the olive tree, to identify other monumental olive trees in our country, especially in the Milas district of Muğla province, To conduct scientific research to reveal the age of these trees and the degree of kinship with other olive trees, To carry out studies for these trees to gain monumental quality, It carries out activities to promote olive trees and natural cultural heritage in the country and abroad, to carry out national and international collaborations for the promotion of monumental olive trees and natural cultural heritage.


With this aim, we hosted the international gastronomy press delegation of 23 people at the head of our 3200-year-old olive tree in our own garden in the organization themed "Olive Route in the South Aegean" organized by the Turkish Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA) in December 2022


We welcomed our guests with the zeybek show of Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University Faculty of Sports Sciences, Mr. Aydın Çelebi. Then, we explained the age of our tree, the projects we have done and our future projects, and we tasted the oil of our ancestral tree that was harvested this year.

We served our olive oil dishes and crushed olives from the Milas region to our guests. We carried out a representative olive harvest with our local women from Milas Çomakdağ. They had a visual feast and a wonderful experience. We gave our guests the oil of our 3200 year old olive tree, olive leaf tea and soap.
